| In 11 years of operation, the salon has raised over $22,000 for breast health making donations to The City of Hope, Milton Hospital’s Breast Health Unit, and more than $12,000 for the Shore Hospitals Breast Care Center. By opening on Sunday and donating their time as well as all proceeds, the team has raised $12,000 for the NYC Restaurant Worker’s Union to extend the health benefits for children of 911 victims and $12,000 for the South Shore Hospitals new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They were invited to become members of the hospital’s “President’s Circle” for donations made.
During the fall of 2005 the team helped a co-worker through a tragic time of caring for and eventually losing a child born with heart defects. The salon’s “Help Mend a Tiny Heart” benefit was the salon’s largest charitable success raising $16,000. Their 2006 spring benefit raised $6000 for the South Shore Hospitals Pediatric Emergency Department and $3000 for the Sun Protection Foundation for Children.
During fall 2006 Charles David employees voted to give up their elaborate fall get together for a “covered dish, old fashioned picnic” and donated the money allotted for the picnic to the “because foundation” for our nation’s food bank in New Orleans. Salon owners, Charles and David, won an all expenses paid trip to NYC for Fashion Week with backstage and show passes from the foundation for donating the most money of any salon to the foundations united salon effort. They were featured in the October ’06 issue of American Salon.
The salon offers a complimentary haircut with any “Locks for Love” hair donation and has numbered more than 300 cuts for the children. Charles David sponsored a group of children from Chernobyl to a “day of beauty.” They have given over $25,000 in services to local groups for auctions, door prizes and raffles. The team has donated their time to numerous fashion shows and “make overs” for local charities.
“We think giving back keeps our team strong. “We seem to be at our best when we have a cause that we’re uniting for” states Honeycutt and Dudley. “We are so grateful to work with a team of professionals who share our commitment to charitable efforts”.

Our first fundraiser, a Holiday Fashion Show Benefit for Breast
Cancer in 1997, raised almost $4,000 for the Carney Hospital Breast
Health Center. Since then, we have raised over $100,000 - with
love.
At Charles David we are truly blessed and believe in giving back
to our communities and charities as much as we can.
Here are a few of our many fundraisers:

Norwell’s Charles David Salon honored in American Salon magazine for largest donation to “End Hunger” compaign
Norwell, MASS., February, 2007 – Charles David Salon’s team members unamiously voted to give up their planned and costly fall family picnic for a “down home” picnic where everyone brought their favorite dish, carved pumpkins and came in costume. They voted to send the money saved to help the many still hungry and starving in New Orleans by making a donation to the b.cause’s “End Hunger” campaign
b.cause is a not-for-profit organization that advances the charitable causes of salon owners and beauty industry professionals. Their “End Hunger” campaign was supported by salons across the country. Little did the Charles David team know that the b.cause organization was giving an all expense paid trip to New York’s Fashion Week with back stage passes to the owners of the salon that donated the most money. “It was such a surprise to learn that we had won this wonderful trip” states Honeycutt and Dudley.
They were VIP guest at several fashion collections runway showings and hosted to a champagne brunch by REDKEN 5th Avenue. “We wish we could have brought all 57 of our team members with us” states Honeycutt and Dudley in an interview with American Salon magazine during their trip to Fashion Week. “Without our staff sharing and giving so much of themselves to our never ending charitable efforts we wouldn’t be here today.” |
